Hopefully the forecasted weather doesn’t affect the hockey too much. Let’s look at what’s in store this weekend.

It’s first versus last in division one as Clydesdale 3rd XI come up against Western 4th XI. It would be a massive upset if this game didn’t go to plan for Clydesdale, having only lost one game this season. Western 4th XI, however, have failed to win any of their games since returning to topflight hockey. The big game of the weekend is surely the clash between Hillhead 3rd and Western 3rd XI. The two sides are both in good form and sit only two points apart in the table. The other two games are also expected to be close games, with Hillhead 4th XI travelling to Uddingston 3rd XI and Giffnock hosting Kelburne 3rd XI.

In division two, there is a massive battle at the top of the division as the two top sides come face to face. Ayr and Clydesdale 4th XI are both on equal points at the top of the table and it’s only two goals that separate them. Home advantage will surely be favourable for Ayr as Clydesdale travel down the coast for this crunch match. GHK are one of only two teams in the district that are so far unbeaten this season. They take on Glasgow University 3rd XI tomorrow. The students have a strong start to the season so this could be a tough match to call. Dumfries will be hoping to continue their good form of late as they welcome Rottenrow 2nd XI to Dumfries. Elsewhere, Uddingston 4th XI host Hillhead 5B, whilst Hillhead 5A go to Greenock 2nd XI.

First play second in division three as well, this weekend, as Kelburne 4th XI host Strathclyde University 2nd XI. Kelburne are five points clear however, and still have a game in hand so it could be a tough ask for the students to get anything out of this game. Anchor are back in action this week as they welcome Hillhead 6th XI to the new pitch at ON-X, in Linwood. This game is always a feisty affair, but Anchor will fancy their chances, with only one loss so far this season. The other game sees Uddingston 5th XI going for their first win of the season with a home tie against Western 5th XI.

Division four only has two games this weekend, and the big one must be the clash between Dumfries 3rd XI and Dumfries 2nd XI. It ended with a 3rd team win last time, but who will come out on top this time. The other game in the division sees the other unbeaten side in the district, Clydesdale 5th XI, host Hillhead 7th XI.
