Clydesdale 5th XI moved back to the top of division three in a busy weekend of hockey for the west district.

 

Three matches in division one took place over the weekend, and it saw Hillhead 5th XI get their first points of the season. An Ally Gray hat-trick helped them achieve a 5-2 victory over Glasgow University 3rd XI. The win moves them out of the drop zone and earns them their first points in division one. Western 3rd XI continued their unbeaten start with a 6-1 win over Clydesdale 3rd XI. It was honours even at the national hockey centre with Rottenrow and Giffnock sharing the points in a 2-2 draw. The solitary point was enough to jump Giffnock up to third place, however.

 

 

Big wins for Uddingston 3rd XI, Rottenrow 2nd XI and Dumfries this weekend in division two. Uddingston kept the pressure up on leaders Rottenrow with an 8-1 defeat of Hillhead 6th XI. Findlay MacFarlane’s hat-trick helped Uddingston seal all three points. It was an end-to-end game at Doonside, but Rottenrow 2nd XI had the upper hand throughout. Seven different goalscorers got nine goals, whilst Ayr could only manage three. The win keeps Rottenrow at the top of division two. Dumfries put eight past Western 4th XI to win 8-1, with a strong home performance. The other match saw GHK get back to winning ways with a 4-0 win over Greenock 2nd XI. The win moves GHK back into third place.

 

Clydesdale 5th XI were back in action on Saturday, in division three, and they ran out 6-0 winners over Hillhead 8th XI. Finlay Dunlop was back to his scoring ways with another hat-trick. The win takes Clydesdale back to the top of the division, albeit on goal difference at the moment. Rottenrow 3rd XI maintained the pressure on Clydesdale, with a 3-0 win over Hilhead 7th XI. Helensburgh 2nd XI got their second win of the season with a tightly contested match against Giffnock 2nd XI. Giffnock lead 2-1 at half time, but Helensburgh kept going and managed to secure a valuable three points with a 5-4 win. The other match saw Clydesdale 6th XI dominate Dumfries 2nd XI 9-0.
