The big games keep coming in the West District as all the points count!

Two of the promoted sides from last season come head-to-head in division one tomorrow. Clydesdale 4th XI host Hillhead 5th XI in an important match for both sides. Neither team has recaptured the form of last season at the higher level so three points are a must for both. Only two points separates them, with the match at Titwood pushing back at 12:00. Rottenrow will be looking to get back to winning ways after a string of draws recently. They travel to Hermitage Academy, to take on Helensburgh, who themselves have started the season well. It’s Giffnock’s turn to try and upset the league leaders, as unbeaten Western 3rd XI head to Eastwood High School. Elsewhere, Kelburne 3rd XI travel to Hillhead 4th XI and Glasgow University 3rd XI look to take all the points from Clydesdale 3rd XI.

Only the four matches in division two this weekend, with the biggest fixture coming from Old Anniesland. GHK will be hosting Rottenrow 2nd XI with both sides pushing for promotion this season. Rottenrow remain unbeaten so far, but GHK will be no pushovers. They start at 12:30. The other promotion contender is Uddingston 3rd XI, who have a home tie against Strathclyde University 2nd XI. The students have struggled for consistency this season and will have their work cut out against Uddingston, who themselves are on a six-match winning run. At the other end of the table, Kelburne 4th XI will fancy their chances at the first points of the season as they take on Western 4th XI at ON-X. Neither side have picked up many points this season, but Saturday could be a good chance. The other match see’s Ayr host Dumfries.

In division three, Clydesdale 5th XI could have their toughest test yet as they face a strong Anchor side. Having said that, Clydesdale look strong themselves with four wins from four, and Finlay Dunlop leading the goalscoring charts. Anchor will be confident, however, as they remain unbeaten at home. Giffnock 2nd XI host Hillhead 8th XI in what should be a hotly contested match. The two teams are both sitting on six points each and are separated only by two goals scored. Helensburgh 2nd XI travel to Balgray to play Hillhead 7th XI in the other Saturday match. Two clubs play on Sunday, as Rottenrow 3rd XI welcome Uddingston 5th XI to the National Hockey Centre. Two sides that are competing at the top of the division, this one should be a cracker. They are both equal on twelve points so expect it to be a tight affair.
