It’s finally here – the first games of the season.
West District Hockey returns for the first time since May last year and we can’t wait. Let’s look at the upcoming fixtures:
In division 1, a full fixture card sees newly promoted Hillhead 4th XI travel to Helensburgh to take on an impressive Helensburgh team. Last season’s division 2 winners host their first division 1 game, welcoming Clydesdale 3rd XI. The champions start the defence of their title at Glasgow Nation Hockey Centre, against Rottenrow.
Division 2 has both division 3 sides from last season open against one another, with Hillhead 5th XI hosting Helensburgh 2nd XI. Kelburne 3rd XI, relegated last season, start the push for promotion against Western 4th XI. The divisions other game has Stepps 2nd XI taking on Uddingston 4th XI.
In division 3, both promoted sides are in action. Hillhead 6th XI host Uddingston 5th XI, whilst Greenock 2nd XI have a tough away fixture against Strathclyde University 2nd XI.
Plenty of action will be seen in division 4, with many youngsters showing their talents. Western and Clydesdale 5th XI’s battle it out at Auchenhowie, whilst Hillhead 7th XI makes the long trip to take on a youthful Dumfries 2nd XI.
