Match day six is over and the tables are starting to take shape!

 

Last season’s champions, Western 3rd XI, are starting to find form in division one, and are creeping up the table because of it. The big derby game between them and Western 4th XI ended in an impressive 8-3 victory for the 3s. They now sit in fourth place and are only looking up. However, it won’t be an easy task catching Clydesdale 3rd XI, who put nine past Kelburne 3rd XI on Saturday. They are looking like the team to beat this season. The only team that has beaten Clydesdale is Rottenrow, and they are keeping pace at the top, with a 6-2 victory over Uddingston 3rd XI. Elsewhere, Helensburghs early form seems to have dipped off, as they fell to a close 2-1 defeat to Hillhead 3rd XI, whilst Hillhead 4th XI got a victory over Giffnock 3-2.

Ayr kept their unbeaten start intact as they overcame Greenock 2nd XI, in division two. Two goals from Andy Bell and two from Ashton Kerr helped them defeat the newly promoted side and they remain top of the division on goal-difference. Clydesdale 4th XI are the team sharing the top with them and they had a five star performance on Saturday, defeating Glasgow University 3rd XI 5-0. They also remain unbeaten! Dumfries crept into the top form with their first away victory of the season, travelling to Uddingston 4th XI, they took all three points with a 3-1 win. Hillhead 5A got their first win of the season, with a 2-0 victory over Rottenrow.

It was an exciting game at Glasgow Green as first took on second in division three. Kelburne 4th XI took the advantage however, and Anchors unbeaten start to the season came an end, in a 6-3 defeat. Strathclyde University 2nd XI kept the pressure on the top two, with an emphatic 8-2 defeat of Western 5th XI. The students will be keen to keep the momentum going, as they look for promotion. Helensburgh 2nd XI overcame Hillhead 6th XI in the other match of the day. Hillhead took an early lead, but the Helensburgh side fought back and managed to take all three points after a late winner by Josh Lethbridge.

Clydesdale 5th XI were back in action in division four after a couple weeks absence. They travelled to Dumfries 2nd XI and managed to return with the points after a 2-0 win. Finlay Dunlop continued his scoring form with both goals for Clydesdale, as he sits atop the scoring charts for the division. Elsewhere, Helensburgh 3rd XI had an impressive 6-2 win over Dumfries 3rd XI, a game in which young Rory Clarkson scored his first and second goals for Helensburgh. The other game saw Hillhead 8th XI defeat Giffnock 2nd XI 2-0.
