Division 1: Fireworks at the top of the table

The standout fixture of the day sees Greenock host Clydesdale 3rd XI in a meeting between the top two. Clydesdale remain top despite suffering their first defeat of the season against Uddingston last weekend, while Greenock will be keen to take advantage and close the gap. With just two points separating the sides, this one could go off with a bang!

There’s another big encounter at Auchenhowie, where Western 3rd XI welcome Clydesdale 4th XI. Third meets fourth, and both sides will be looking to keep the pressure on the leaders. Western remain unbeaten, while Clydesdale 4th XI have been quietly building an impressive campaign.

Elsewhere, Uddingston 3rd XI will look to build on their impressive win over Clydesdale 3rd XI when they take on Hillhead 5th XI. Rottenrow host Kelburne 2nd XI, while Hillhead 4th XI welcome Helensburgh to Balgray in a meeting between two sides still searching for their first points of the season.

Division 2: Can Dumfries keep the flames burning?

GHK sit top of Division 2, but with Kelburne 3rd XI just a point behind, the battle at the summit is heating up.

Kelburne will be looking to bounce back from last weekend’s 3–0 defeat to Dumfries when they travel to face Uddingston 4th XI. The hosts will be hoping to make home advantage count, but Kelburne know they cannot afford many more slip-ups.

Dumfries, meanwhile, will be full of confidence after that impressive victory and now welcome Western 4th XI. Both sides are on seven points, making this an important encounter in the race to stay in touch with the leading pack.

Clydesdale 5th XI host Glasgow University 3 at Titwood in the late pushback at 4pm. Clydesdale have games in hand on the sides above them and will see this as a chance to strengthen their promotion credentials.

The remaining fixture sees Hillhead 6th XI take on Ayr, with both teams looking to climb away from the bottom end of the table.

Division 3: Can anyone stop the goal machine?

Uddingston 5th XI grabbed the headlines last weekend with a remarkable 13–0 victory, but they’ll face a different challenge this time around as they travel to take on Greenock 2nd XI at Inverclyde Academy.

Greenock will be keen to put last weekend’s 2–1 victory over Hillhead 7th XI to good use, while Uddingston will be hoping to keep their goal-scoring fireworks going.

Strathclyde University 2nd XI also enjoyed a prolific afternoon, hitting nine past Giffnock 2nd XI in a 9–3 win. They’ll look to carry that form into their meeting with Hillhead 7th XI at Millerston.

Elsewhere, Anchor welcome Dumfries 2nd XI to ON-X, while Kelburne 4th XI host Hillhead 8th XI in another intriguing contest. Hillhead will be keen to respond after their narrow 1–0 defeat to Clydesdale 6th XI last weekend.

Let the fireworks begin!

With top-of-the-table clashes, teams looking to bounce back and plenty of points at stake, Saturday promises another exciting afternoon of West District hockey.

Will the leaders hold their nerve, or will we see a few more fireworks and surprises along the way?

Good luck to all teams taking to the pitch this weekend!
