The end of the season approaches, and all points become vital for teams.

In division one, theirs an all club clash with Western 3rd XI taking on Western 4th XI. However, the two sides couldn’t be in more opposite predicaments. After defeating Clydesdale last week, Western 3rd XI will think they have one hand on the trophy, and a win over their 4th XI should help them towards that goal. The 4th XI are in desperate need of points however, if they wish to stay in the division, but it looks all but a sealed deal. This game could relegate them. Elsewhere, Clydesdale 3rd XI will be keen to bounce back after a defeat last week, with a win over Kelburne 3rd XI. The Paisley side have had a good return to top division hockey and look set for a comfortable mid-table finish, but they could have an impact on where the trophy is heading with this game. Rottenrow will still have an outside belief of silverware this season and will need to overcome Uddingston 3rd XI to continue their push. The other matches see Hillhead 3rd XI host Helensburgh and Giffnock welcome Hillhead 4th XI to Eastwood.

Two top of the table clashes make the headlines in division two this week. Currently in first place is Hillhead 5B. They ‘travel’ to GHK this week with a win vital to both teams hope of a trophy this season. The two sides played only last week in the reverse fixture, which Hillhead narrowly won but GHK will hope to put that right this weekend. The other big clash is between Clydesdale 4th XI and Glasgow University 3rd XI. Third host second in this match with silverware still a possibility for either club. At the bottom of the table, Hillhead 5A will be looking at tomorrows match as a chance for three points, as they take on Rottenrow 2nd XI. Neither side have been in great form of late and three points could be vital for Hillhead. Dumfries host Uddingston 4th XI in the final match of the division.

Two matches in division three this week could have a bearing on the final league position given both Strathclyde University 2nd XI and Anchor will be keen on earning the second promotion spot. Kelburne 4th XI are top and look comfortable but both Anchor and Strathclyde will chase them down all the way to the end of the season. Anchor host Western 5th XI tomorrow and will be looking to bounce back after a heavy defeat last week. Whereas Strathclyde travel to struggling Uddingston 5th XI, hoping that three points will be there’s.

For the second weekend in a row, Dumfries hosts a derby match as the 3rd XI host the 2nd XI. The 3s will be out for revenge after losing last weekend and will be hoping they can put on a better display and possibly even cause an upset against the higher ranked side. The other match could confirm Clydesdale 5th XI as division champions if they overcome Hillhead 8th XI. Clydesdales star man is Finlay Dunlop up front, and they will be keen for him to continue his scoring record against Hillhead tomorrow.
