Another round of games, as the league season continues to kick off

A full compliment of games for the district as we take a look at what’s ahead.

After a winning start last week for Western 3rd XI, they’ll be looking to pick up some form as they host Hillhead 4th XI, who also started with a win last week. It was Dumfries who were on the end of a big defeat last week, and they will be hoping another trip to Glasgow doesn’t end the same way. They face Hillhead 3rd XI at Windyedge, a team very much looking to get back to their best form. Elsewhere, Giffnock host Helensburgh, Rottenrow travel to GHK and Uddingston 3rd XI take on Clydesdale 3rd XI.

The biggest shock of last week saw Hillhead 5th XI put ten past Helensburgh 2nd. Currently top of the league, Hillhead now take on Glasgow University 3rd XI, who will be playing their first game of the season. The university side will be hoping to have a strong season after relegation last year. Kelburne 3rd XI (the other relegated side) had a good opening win of the season last week and will be looking to keep it up against Clydesdale 4th XI at the National Hockey Centre. Elsewhere, Ayr and Stepps will play their first match of the season, down in Ayr; Rottenrow 2nd XI host Western 4th XI and Helensburgh 2nd XI travel to Uddingston 4th XI.

In division 3, Ayr 2nd XI welcome Strathclyde University 2nd XI. The Ayr side are yet to play this season and will be hoping for a winning start against the Uni side. Greenock 2nd XI host Uddingston 5th XI, whilst Kelburne 4th XI welcome Hillhead 6th XI to the National Hockey Centre.

In the districts 4th division, Helensburgh 3rd XI welcome Dumfries 2nd XI to Hermitage Academy as the two young sides battle it out for three points. Giffnock 2nd XI sit top of the league and will look to build some momentum going forward as they travel to Auchenhowie to take on Western 5th XI. The other game see’s Hillhead 7th XI host Clydesdale 5th XI.
