It’s the final weekend of games for division one and two, with titles to be won and relegation to be avoided!

The district title edges ever closer for Western 3rd XI in division one and this Saturday they have the challenge of Helensburgh to overcome. Helensburgh will be buoyed after a tough win over Rottenrow last week so Western will have to be at their best. Clydesdale 3rd XI will be doing all they can to keep the challenge going. After dropping points mid-week at Giffnock, the ‘dale will have to get back to winning ways away at Uddingston 3rd XI. Giffnock will be pleased with a point against Clydesdale, and could finish as high as fifth, should they defeat Rottenrow this weekend, but Rottenrow will need to three points to keep third place a realistic finish. Elsewhere, Hillhead 4th XI travel to Western 4th XI and Kelburne 3rd XI go to Hillhead 3rd XI.
The title is very much up for grabs in division two, and Glasgow University 3rd XI will need to ensure all three points come their way should they wish to win it. A win over Saturday’s opponents, Greenock 2nd XI, will see them promoted back to division one but they will want to the division two title along with it. However, they will need Clydesdale 4th XI to slip up somewhere. They are away at relegation threatened Uddingston 4th XI who are also desperate for three points to ensure division survival. The other team with a chance at the title is Hillhead 5B, who host Ayr tomorrow. With several games in hand, Hillhead hold the cards but will need to continue on their winning ways to make it a reality. GHK still hold a faint chance of promotion, but they will need to win all their remaining games, including tomorrow’s home tie against Rottenrow 2nd XI, and hope that Glasgow University slip up. The other match see’s Hillhead 5A travel to Dumfries, knowing that they need to get points on the board to avoid the drop.
Division three is still very much in play as all teams have several games still to play. Chiefly on this is division leaders Kelburne 4th XI, who could lose top spot tomorrow if Strathclyde University 2nd XI can overcome Western 5th XI. The students have been in good form of late and could add to their five-game winning streak against Western. The other match see’s Helensburgh 2nd XI face Hillhead 6th XI at Balgray. The two sides have been evenly matched over the course of the season and another close encounter is expected.
Division four is settled in terms of division champions, but pride is at stake for the teams, with final positions far from settled. Dumfries 2nd XI could leapfrog opponents Hillhead 8th XI with a win tomorrow in Glasgow; whilst Giffnock 2nd XI will be hoping to secure second place with a victory over Hillhead 7th XI. They play again on Sunday against Dumfries 3rd XI, so they could move six points clear in second place.
