We have a third WDUA member going to Europe, who we forgot about. He’s heading to Helsinki where the EuroHockey Championship Qualifier II Men and EuroHockey Championsip Qualifier II Women will be taking place. The mens qualifier will feature Finland, Gibralter, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, Luxembourg, and Malta, with Finland, Gibralter, Hungary and Luxembourg making up the Womens tournament.
So who is the Assistant Umpire Manger taking his first steps onto what is a new stage for him that I forgot to highlight, well it’s Martin Madden, West District Hockeys Olympic Final umpire.
Apologies Martin, we hope this debut tournament in your new role goes really well for you, your colleagues and the competing teams. Hopefully this won’t stop you turning out on miserable wet west coast days to help assess our aspiring Level 1 umpires in their practical tests.
