It was a busy weekend for umpires this week with no less than fourteen cards awarded across the district.
In division one, a rare 0-0 draw occurred between Helensburgh and Hillhead 4th XI. This result sees Helensburgh move to the top of the table, after Rottenrow defeated Clydesdale 3rd XI 3-2. A double for Jay Holland helped seal it for Rottenrow, bringing Clydesdale’s unbeaten start to the season to an end. Greg Bond got two for Giffnock in their game against Hillhead 3rd XI. It was Giffnocks second win of the season, defeating Hillhead 4-2, and moving level on points with Hillhead. The other games in the division saw Western 3rd XI defeat Uddingston comfortably, and Kelburne 3rd XI overcome Western 4th XI 5-2.


Clydesdale 4th XI remain unbeaten in division two, as they overcame Hillhead 5A, with a 5-2 victory. The Titwood side have only dropped two points this season and remain top of the division. Ayr also remain unbeaten, after the defeated Dumfries in the ‘local’ derby match. It was a topsy-turvy game with Ayr edging it 4-3. GHK continued their good form with a win over Uddingston 4th XI. A comfortable 3-1-win sees them move up to third in the table. Elsewhere, a Graeme Etheridge hat-trick helped Hillhead 5B defeat Greenock 2nd XI 7-1, with Graeme now leading the scoring charts for the division; and Rottenrow 2nd XI defeated Glasgow University 3rd XI 4-3.
Fraser Speirs and Toby Stevens both scored twice to help Hillhead 6th XI beat Uddingston 5th XI, to give Hillhead their first victory of the season in division three. It was a tasty game in Saltcoats, as Anchor and Strathclyde University 2nd XI fought for three points. Each side received four cards a piece, but it was Anchor who took the three points with a 4-3 victory. The other game saw Western 5th XI defeat Helensburgh 2nd XI 3-1.


Free scoring Helensburgh 3rd XI were back amongst the goals this week in division four, as their game against Hillhead 7th XI threw up twelve goals. Helensburgh won 8-4 in an end-to-end game, with Mark Findlay and James Pettit both scoring hat-tricks for the ‘burgh side. The other two games were far closer, with Hillhead 8th XI managing to return home with three points after a close 1-0 defeat of Dumfries 3rd XI. Giffnock 2nd XI edged the game over Dumfries 2nd XI as they won 2-1.
