It was an exciting weekend of hockey in the West District this week.

 

Only the one game in division one this week and it was a resounding victory from Rottenrow, as they defeated Glasgow University 3rd XI 10-2. Amongst the goalscorers was Grant Hood, who bagged a double, and Seth Crosby, also getting two. The win moves Rottenrow up to third in the division. Glasgow University drop to the bottom on goal difference.

 

 

Big wins for both Uddingston sides saw them move up the table. Uddingston 3rd XI had to navigate a tricky away match to Ayr, but managed it efficiently, winning 5-1. Findlay McFarlane getting his first couple for the season, for Uddingston. Not to be outdone, the 4th XI won a convincing 8-1 over Western 4th XI, who look to be struggling for early season form. Elsewhere, it was a tight match between Hillhead 6th XI and Strathclyde University 2nd XI, with the students winning 1-0.

 

Clydesdale 6th XI got their first win of the season with a close fought match against Giffnock 2nd XI. Another close match at Hermitage Academy saw Morris Kelly grab the winner for Rottenrow 3rd XI against Helensburgh 2nd XI, making it two wins from two for the newly formed ‘row 3rd XI. The other match was an end to end battle, with Anchor overcoming Hillhead 7th XI 4-3. The win takes Anchor into third place.
