The district title is all but sealed in to Western 3rd XI’s hands after the weekend.

Western 3rd XI had two games this weekend and winning both has left them needing only one more point to ensure they win the title. They had a tough Friday night match against Hillhead 3rd XI. A narrow 2-1 lead at half time was added to by both teams in the second half. Western got the job done though with a 3-2 victory. Saturday’s game was a more routine one with a comfortable win over Helensburgh. Clydesdale 3rd XI managed to ensure the title goes to the final match after a 5-2 win over Uddingston 3rd XI. They need to hope that there is a big swing in goal difference however, if they want to put their hands on the John S. Dick trophy. Elsewhere, Hillhead 3rd XI had a comfortable 7-1 win over Kelburne 3rd XI; Hillhead 4th XI defeated already relegated Western 4th XI and a Robbie Millar double helped Rottenrow back to winning ways over Giffnock.

Division two is still hotly contested with Clydesdale 4th XI, Glasgow University 3rd XI and Hillhead 5B all picking up wins at the weekend. Glasgow had a convincing win over Greenock 2nd XI which ensures promotion to division one next season, but they now have to wait and see where they will finish with Clydesdale and Hillhead both having games in hand. Clydesdale 4th XI overcame Uddingston 4th XI with a 4-2 win, whilst Hillhead 5B defeated Ayr 4-1; a double from Oliver Hayman helping them secure the points.
