We are approaching the business end of the season, with all points becoming precious in the fight for promotion and to avoid relegation.

It’s tight at the top of division one, with the district champions to be decided. Clydesdale 3rd XI current occupy top spot with Western 3rd XI hot on their tail. The leaders host Hillhead 3rd XI this weekend, which should be enticing game for the neutral. Clydesdale won comfortably in the earlier half of the season, but Hillhead have improved vastly since then. Western, on the other hand, have an away trip to Rottenrow. Only a point separates the two sides, so this could be an excellent game to watch. At the other of the table, Western 4th XI will be buoyed after their first points of the season last week. They welcome Giffnock to Auchenhowie and could capitalise on Giffnocks slump in form. The other matches see Helensburgh travel to Uddingston 3rd XI and Kelburne 3rd XI host Hillhead 4th XI.

Division two has new leaders after last week. GHK are in good form and will be hoping that another three points are on the cards as they host Ayr, in what could be a feisty game. Ayr have hit a dry patch of late but will be keen to get back to winning ways. Glasgow University 3rd XI have also rocketed up the table of late and take on Hillhead 5A, on Saturday. With the students in good form, they’ll be keen to take all the points from Hillhead. Still in the race for promotion are Dumfries, who travel to Glasgow to play in form Hillhead 5B. The two sides played out a nine-goal thriller earlier in the season, with Dumfries nicking that one. Elsewhere, Rottenrow 2nd XI host Clydesdale 4th XI and Uddingston 4th XI travel to Greenock 2nd XI.

In division three, Kelburne 4th XI are back in action and looking to maintain momentum for their fight for the title. Whilst it’s no foregone conclusion, they are playing bottom side Uddingston 5th XI and will be eager to pick up all three points. Hillhead 6th XI host Western 5th XI, with plenty of young talent on display, showcasing what the district has to offer. These two sides will be keen to pick up points and stave off any relegation thoughts they may have. The other match sees Anchor host Helensburgh 2nd XI at the ON-X.

Top two clash in division four, as Helensburgh 3rd XI welcome Clydesdale 5th XI to Hermitage Academy. Clydesdale remain unbeaten this season though, so it could be a tough ask for the young Helensburgh side to overcome them. Dumfries 2nd XI host Hillhead 8th XI, whilst Giffnock 2nd XI travel to Hillhead 7th XI – another couple of games that will be full of young talent, keen to show what they’ve got.
