The last round of official outdoor fixtures for 2024 took place on Saturday. Let’s see how they went.

It was business as usual in division one for the top three sides. Clydesdale 3rd XI kept top spot, and a cool three points ahead, as they demolished Uddingston 3rd XI 10-2. Second placed Rottenrow had a trickier tie but came out 6-3 winners over Giffnock. A Robbie Millar hat-trick ensured their victory. And Western 3rd XI moved up to third in the division after a comfortable 7-2 win over Helensburgh. Kelburne 3rd XI secured a vital point against Hillhead 3rd XI, moving them up to sixth. The other match saw Hillhead 4th XI defeat Western 4th XI 4-0.

It was a feisty game in division two as unbeaten GHK travelled to the National Hockey Centre to face Rottenrow 2nd XI. GHK’s unbeaten run continued, as they came out 3-2 winners, but the game was marred by a red card for both sides. Ayr’s defeat to Hillhead 5B saw them drop from first to fourth in division two, allowing Clydesdale 4th XI to claim top spot. They had a comfortable 6-3 win over Uddingston 4th XI. The biggest movers, however, were Dumfries, who now sit in second place. Ryan Johnston, James Aitken and Max MacFarlane all scored twice in their 6-2 defeat of Hillhead 5A. Glasgow University 3rd also maintained pressure on the top with a 2-0 win over Greenock 2nd XI.

The only match in division three to take place was Anchors 5-3 win over Western 5th XI. The win moves Anchor firmly into second place in the division, behind Kelburne 4th XI.

In division four, Clydesdale 5th XI remain unbeaten, after a 4-1 victory over Giffnock 2nd XI. Finlay Dunlop maintained his scoring record with a double, moving him to twelve for the season. Helensburgh 3rd XI remain in second, after a 2-0 win over Dumfries 2nd XI; and Dumfries 3rd XI succumbed to a 7-2 defeat at home to Hillhead 7th XI.

The outdoor leagues take a winter break now, although some catch up games will be played, but the league moves indoor for the colder months!
