Another excellent weekend of hockey on display in the West District with 84 goals scored across all four divisions.
In division 1, Western 3rd XI made a massive statement of intent, heading to Uddingston 3rd XI and putting 11 goals past them. It was a goal fest in Dumfries too, with Giffnock scoring 8 to Dumfries’ 2. Greg Bond got himself a hat-trick. Elsewhere, Helensburgh picked their first three points of the campaign, with a 3-0 win over GHK.
Division 2 saw an exciting 10 goal thriller at the National Hockey Centre, with Kelburne 3rd XI and Uddingston 4th XI competing. It finished 4 goals to 6, with Uddingstons Martin Lorimer getting 4 himself. Glasgow University played their first game of the campaign, with a 2-0 win over Clydesdale 4th XI, whilst Ayr defeated Rottenrow 2nd XI 4-1.

It was 4 goals for Kelburne’s Don Tervitt, as they beat Anchor 5-0 in division 3. Greenock 2nd XI and Hillhead 6th XI shared the points with a 2-2 draw.
A goal by Harris McKechnie wasn’t enough for Helensburgh 3rd XI at home to Clydesdale 5th XI, as the young ‘burgh side lost 4-1. Wins for Giffnock 2nd XI and Western 5th XI left the two in 2nd and 1st place respectively.
