So the season hasn’t started yet but already West District Umpires Association are out assessing Level 1 umpires as the search continues for the next Martin Madden or Sarah Wilson. Today had an International flavor to the assessments at Uddingston of new Scottish International Jed Campbell along with David Little also of Uddingston Hockey Club who both passed their Level 1 assessment and have now joined the ranks of WDUA and our officials family. Thanks also goes today to Matthew Deighan for taking time off from studying for professional exams to assess on our behalf and highlights the amazing commitment of our officials. But Jed and David weren’t the first Level 1 assessment of the season, Sam Cowan, currently of Shetland, assessed and passed Megan Nicholson of Shetland Hockey Club a couple of weeks ago, so thanks to Sam from WDUA for his efforts and rumour has it the active West District Assessors are being flown to Sumburgh by the club for a curry night. We look forward to hearing the proposed dates and itinery soon.
