League hockey returns for the new season tomorrow – with the 2025-26 season getting underway in the West District.

Division One includes three newly promoted teams this year: Clydesdale 4th XI, Hillhead 5th XI, and Glasgow University 3rd XI. Clydesdale will play their opening match against current champions Western 3rd XI at Titwood. Hillhead 5th XI are scheduled to play Helensburgh at Hermitage Academy, while Glasgow University will begin their season in a few weeks. Additionally, last season’s runners-up Clydesdale 3rd XI face Giffnock, and Rottenrow will play against Kelburne 3rd XI.

In Division Two, eleven teams will compete for the vital promotion spots. Last season’s Division One teams, Uddingston 3rd XI and Western 4th XI, will open their campaigns against each other at Auchenhowie. Among the newly promoted clubs, Kelburne 4th XI host Dumfries at the ON-X, while Hillhead 6th XI will play on the new surface at Inverclyde Sports Academy against Greenock 2nd XI. Strathclyde University 2nd XI are scheduled to begin their season next weekend. The remaining fixtures feature Ayr hosting GHK and Rottenrow 2nd XI travelling to meet Uddingston 4th XI.

Division Three combines last season’s divisions three and four into an eleven-team league, welcoming back Clydesdale 6th XI and Rottenrow 3rd XI. Hillhead also enters a 9th XI this year. Clydesdale 6th XI faces their 5th XI under the lights at Titwood to start the season, while Rottenrow 3rd XI begins next week. Hillhead 9th XI hosts Uddingston 5th XI for their debut, Helensburgh 2nd XI welcomes Dumfries 2nd XI, and Hillhead 7th XI travels to Giffnock 2nd XI in the other league matches.
