Our first George Black Trophy final, since it has been named in honour of the great man. The game is set to be a good one, with the Plate Final also looking tasty.
After a tight game, Hillhead defeated Helensburgh 1-0 in the semi-finals, whilst Western overcame Clydesdale in the other tie. This sets up an exciting final between two titans of the district. Western 3rd XI are looking for the league and cup double, after they secured the West District title earlier this month. Hillhead 3rd XI were hot on their tails for most of the season and will be sure to give their all in this game, to bring home the silverware.
In the Plate, Dumfries had already overcome Hillhead C and waited eagerly to find out their opponent. Giffnock hosted Kelburne 4th XI in a mid-week game which ended in a 3-0 win for Giffnock. The two sides both have their name on the Cup already, but this season sees them compete in the plate final for the first time.
Auchenhowie is the venue for both finals, with Dumfries vs. Giffnock pushing back at 12:00. Western 3 vs. Hillhead A will take place at 14:00. Get down and support your team. It’s sure to be an exciting finals day.
Division three will also wrap up tomorrow with Kelburne 4th XI travelling to Greenock 2nd XI, and Anchor hosting Hillhead 6th XI.
