With the winter break around the corner, and indoor hockey sticks being dusted off, let’s look at the results from the weekend.

It was a valuable point for GHK, in division 1, who held Giffnock to a 1 – 1 scoreline. Giffnock are yet to lose this season and so a draw was a good result for GHK, who have John Giblin to thank for the goal. Rottenrow had a tough game away at Hillhead 4th XI. It finished 3 – 2, to the ‘row, moving them up to 2nd in league. Elsewhere, comfortable wins for Clydesdale 3rd XI, Western 3rd XI and Hillhead 3rd XI saw little change in the league table. Western remain unbeaten and at the top of the district.

In division 2, division leaders Kelburne 3rd XI had a good 2 – 0 victory over Rottenrow 2nd XI. Clydesdale 4th XI defeated Uddingston 4th XI 2 – 1. There was a real thriller in Ayrshire, as Ayr lost 3 – 4 to Western 4th XI. The topsy turvy game could have gone either way but the away side edged it in the end. Glasgow University 3rd XI were the other victors, with a 3 – 1 win over Helensburgh 2nd XI.

The only game taking place in division 3 was a 1 – 1 draw between Uddingston 5th XI and Hillhead 6th XI. Kyle Reid and Charlie Hamilton scored for their respective sides in a good-natured game.

Hillhead 7th XI managed to beat top of pile Western 5th XI in a close affair at Auchenhowie. They came away with a 1 – 0 win and all three points. Elsewhere, Giffnock 2nd XI travelled to Dumfries 2nd XI and scored three goals without reply and Clydesdale 5th XI had a comfortable 6 – 1 victory over Helensburgh 3rd XI.
