The second half of the season is upon us. But let’s see where we’re at as we approach match 9.

Division 4 remains the development league of the district, with many youngsters getting their first taste of hockey. Guiding them are the experienced heads from the various clubs that feature.

The league table reflects the players that play in the division, with any team able to take points and goals off one another. However, it is Giffnock 2nd XI that currently lead the way with 17 points. They’ve been steadily grinding out results, with impressive wins over Helensburgh 3rd XI and a close 2-1 victory over 2nd placed Western 5th XI. Western, themselves, looked to be destined for promotion after their early league form saw them win 5 in a row, but the Giffnock game brought that to a halt.

Elsewhere, Helensburgh 3rd XI and Dumfries 2nd XI have struggled to pick up points, but the youthful teams are clearly enjoying the hockey with games being played regularly. Both teams are filled with many future talents. Clydesdale 5th XI boast the most prolific team, with 23 goals scored. They’ve certainly enjoyed putting the ball in the net and sit in 3rd place. Hillhead 7th XI make up the final spot, in 4th.
