The second half of the season is upon us. But let’s see where we’re at as we approach match 10.

Division 2 looks set to go right to the wire, even at this halfway stage. Only six points sits between first and seventhplace. Occupying that top spot is Kelburne 3rd XI, who are doing exactly what they set out to do this season, after last year’s relegation. They will be hoping to continue their good form and win the division for the first time in ten years. Another side hoping to go straight back to the top are Glasgow University 3rd XI. They were also one of the relegated sides from last season. They currently place in seventh but with two games in hand over many teams above, they will know that it is well within their grasp.

The sad news that Stepps 2nd XI had to fold has left the division with only nine sides and one relegation spot. It is currently Helensburgh 2nd XI that sit in ninth. Last season’s division 3 champions have struggled to get to grips with the higher level of hockey but will remain confident of avoiding relegation after some impressive performances in the last few games. Western 4th XI and Clydesdale 4th XI are sitting in second and fourth respectively. The two sides were close to promotion last year and look set to push towards it again this season. Uddingston 4th XI are currently mid-table, but again with such a tight league, it could go any direction for them. The scoring prowess of Martin Lorimer has absolutely been a key part of their game, him leading the division charts with nine goals.
