There were some important wins at the top of three West District Divisions this weekend.

Division one’s titan clash between Western 3rd XI and Rottenrow proved to be a little too one sided! A strong first half from Western saw them take a 4-0 lead into half time. Rottenrow fought back in the second half, but Western’s scoring didn’t stop. The final score was 8-2 and title looks like it’s returning to Auchenhowie. Hillhead 3rd XI could still mount a late challenge for the title and win for them over Giffnock helped take a step closer. Top scorer Cameron Dempster bagged himself a double. At the bottom of the table, there was nothing to separate GHK and Dumfries, both sides embroiled in a relegation fight. However, the point will prove more useful to GHK, who now sit on eight points, one above Uddingston 3rd XI and Helensburgh, both who are joint on seven, and both having lost at the weekend.

In division two, Kelburne 3rd XI have confirmed promotion back to division one, returning after only a single season. They had a confident 4-1 victory over Glasgow University 3rd XI and will now be looking to take the title with them back to the top. Third placed Ayr moved level on points with second placed Western 4th XI, after a comfortable 3-0 win at home against Hillhead 5th XI. Western do have a game in hand, but the two sides meet next weekend in Glasgow! Elsewhere, Rottenrow 2nd XI drew 0-0 with Uddingston 4th XI.

Division three had a couple of fixtures, with Kelburne 4th XI moving into the promotion places with a 5-3 win over Strathclyde University 2nd XI. Anchor beat Uddingston 5th XI 3-2.

Clydesdale 5th XI came out on top against Western 5th XI, in division four. The two sides are top of the division, but Clydesdale look to have pipped them to the title. Bottom side Helensburgh 3rd XI had an impressive victory over Giffnock 2nd XI, which would have taken them off the bottom, however Dumfries 2nd XI also won at home to Hillhead 7th XI, meaning the division remained in the status quo!
