It was a goal fest this weekend in the West District. Fifty-eight goals across the three divisions!

 

Western 3rd XI remain top of division one after a smashing 10-1 victory over recently promoted Hillhead 5th XI. The Milngavie side already look like a strong shout to retain the John S. Dick Trophy. It was a big win for Rottenrow as they leapfrogged opponents Clydesdale 3rd XI, with a 3-0 win. Tom Edwards and Fraser Walker getting the three goals between them. At the bottom of the table, it was a controversial win for Glasgow University 3rd XI as they defeated Kelburne 3rd XI 2-1. A tight game throughout saw it even after the first half, but the students managed to sneak a late winner. Elsewhere, victories for Giffnock and Hillhead 4th XI saw both sides move up the league table.

 

 

Uddingston were on fire in division two this week. Both Uddingston 3rd XI and Uddingston 4th XI scored thirteen goals over their two games. Uddingston 3rd XI defeated GHK in the midday game, that saw them move above their opponents in the table. The 4th XI defeated Kelburne 4th XI 7-0 in the earlier game. Rottenrow 2nd XI have moved top of division two however, after beating Greenock 2nd XI 3-1. Rottenrow took a slender 1-0 lead in at half time through a Colin Jones goal. Greenock scored in the second half, but Rottenrow’s stamina prevailed as they got a further two through Jones and Martin Shanks. The other result saw Hillhead 6th XI defeat Western 4th XI 4-0.

 

 

Another big win for Uddingston in division three, as the 5th XI defeated Anchor 6-0. It was a tense game throughout, with many cards shown, but Uddingston dominated in the goal department. Clydesdale 6th XI followed up their first victory last week with another this week, as they overcame Hillhead 7th XI 3-1. And it was a lone goal that separated Rottenrow 3rd XI and Hillhead 8th XI with Jordan Miller scoring it for Rottenrow. The win puts them on equal points with division leaders Clydesdale 5th XI.
