With division one and two out of action, we focus on the third and fourth division sides.

Some exciting hockey was on display in division three, as Strathclyde University 2nd XI made themselves known at the weekend. They had a big 6-1 win over Uddingston 5th XI, to show that they firmly want to be in the running for promotion this season. It was a tight affair at Auchenhowie, as Western 5th XI were held to a 2-2 draw by Anchor. Nothing could split the team, with them going in 1-1 at half time. Both sides got a second in the second half to each take a point home. The other game was a tense match, with Helensburgh 2nd XI taking a narrow 1-0 lead in at half time. Kelburne 4th XI scored twice in the second half, as did Helensburgh, with Adam Carmichael and Gavin Mackenzie winning the tie for Helensburgh.

In division four, a superb Finlay Dunlop hat-trick helped Clydesdale 5th XI overcome Giffnock 2nd XI. Afran Azhar and Andrew Mitchell got Clydesdales other two goals in a 5-2 victory. It was a very close game down in Dumfries, with Dumfries 2nd XI picking up their first points of the season. A single second half goal was all that could separate them and Helensburgh 3rd XI. Dumfries 3rd XI had their first away trip and were close to bringing back a point, but Hillhead 7th XI experience shone through, as they won 2-1.

Kelburne 4th XI stay atop division three, despite the loss, however only two points separate 5th and 1st. Clydesdale 5th XI move to the top of division four, after their second win of the season, leaving Giffnock languishing at the bottom.
