75 goals in a weekend of exciting hockey!

Division one followed form this weekend as all the top sides beat those at the bottom. There were thirteen goals to speak of at Windyedge, as league leaders Western 3rd XI scored ten against Hillhead’s 4th XI’s three. Six different goal scorers got on the sheet as Rottenrow defeated GHK and a late consolation goal by Gordon Black wasn’t enough for Helensburgh as they fell 3-1 to Giffnock. Elsewhere, Hillhead 3rd XI overcame Dumfries and Clydesdale 3rd XI defeated Uddingston 3rd XI.

In division two, the games were slightly closer as second placed Western 4th XI could only get the one past Rottenrow 2nd XI. Table toppers Kelburne 3rd XI had a comfortable 3-0 defeat of Clydesdale 4th XI to keep them at the top of the pile and Helensburgh 2nd XI got only their second victory of the season with a 2-0 win over Uddingston 4th XI.

The biggest upset of the weekend came in division three as winless Ayr 2nd XI overcame Greenock 2nd XI. Prior to the game, Ayr had failed to win any of their previous four games but managed to sneak all three points in a 2-1 win over Greenock. Kelburne 4th XI had an impressive 3-1 over Strathclyde University 2nd XI, moving above them in the table, and Hillhead 6th XI beat Anchor 5-0.

Western 5th XI moved back to the top of division four table with an 8-0 defeat over Dumfries 2nd XI. They were helped by Clydesdale 5th XI who beat Giffnock 2nd at Titwood. The other match saw a close tie between Hillhead 7th XI and Helensburgh 3rd XI where the hosts just managed a 2-1 victory.
