It was a sparkling weekend of hockey. Fireworks, drama and a few goals.

Giffnock continued their unbeaten run after a close fought game in division 1. A double from Owen Hadden helped them overcome a tricky Uddingston 3rd XI, with a 5 – 4 victory. Hot on the tails of Giffnock are Western 3rd XI who have yet to lose a game and seem to be scoring for fun. They beat Clydesdale 3rd XI in what looks to have been a one-sided affair, with the score ending 7 – 1. Hillhead 4th XI had a good 2 – 1 victory over GHK, at the other end of the table.

Division 2 saw a hattrick from Uddingston 4th XIs Martin Lorimer, as they moved back to the top of table. They beat Ayr 4 – 2. Rottenrow 2nd XI have picked up form of late and had a very strong 7 – 1 victory over struggling Stepps. Dara Brennan and Rupert Bath both getting a double to help the team over the line. Elsewhere, Kelburne 3rd XI got back to winning ways with a 3 – 2 win over Hillhead 5th XI. They move to 2nd in the table.

In division 3, only two games took place. Unbeaten Strathclyde University 2nd XI finally tasted defeat after an impressive performance from Hillhead 6th XI. They edged the game 3 – 2. Greenock 2nd XI put on an impressive display as they defeated Kelburne 4th XI 5 – 1. Harry Weld-Forester and Finn McCabe both got two goals each, with Callum Dyer adding the fifth.

Another unbeaten side tasted their first defeat of the season in division 4. Western 5th XI couldn’t beat Clydesdale 5th XI as the latter side won 3 – 2. Bottom side Dumfries 2nd XI came out on top against Hillhead 7th XI, winning 6 – 3. This win moves them off the bottom of the table.
