As the season drifts into November, it’s a busy month of hockey in the West District.

The highlight in division 1 is undoubtedly the game between 2nd and 3rd. Unbeaten Western 3rd XI welcome Clydesdale 3rd XI to Auchenhowie. The two sides are in excellent form but Western must be the favourites, with only one goal conceded so far this season. Clydesdale will be looking to change that however, with a decent goal scoring record themselves. Giffnock are the other unbeaten side in the division, and they currently sit top of the district, after promotion last season. They take on last season’s district champions, Uddingston 3rd XI, at Eastwood High School. Uddingston have struggled to recapture last season’s form but can always be considered a threat. Elsewhere, Rottenrow host Dumfries, Hillhead 3rd XI travel to Helensburgh and GHK welcome Hillhead 4th XI.

In division 2, the top four sides are joint on nine points, with only goal difference separating them. 1st plays 3rd as Uddingston 4th XI take on Ayr. Uddingston will be looking for an immediate bounce back after last weeks loss. Similarly, Ayr will be trying to gain some momentum to push for the division 2 title this year. Another team hoping for promotion is undoubtedly Glasgow University 3rd XI. They host Western 4th XI in what should be a tightly contested affair. At the other end of the table, Clydesdale 4th XI welcome Helensburgh 2nd XI to Titwood. The other matches see Kelburne 3rd XI host Hillhead 5th XI, and Rottenrow 2nd XI travel to Stepps.

Only two games this week in division 3. Hillhead 6th XI host Strathclyde University 2nd XI. The two sides are both unbeaten, with Strathclyde having won the three games they have played. The Uni’ side will be confident of another victory despite playing away from home. Kelburne 4th XI vs. Greenock 2nd XI is the other game. These two sides sit in 3rd and 4th and it’s sure to be tight affair with only nine goals conceded between both teams.

Division 4 also has only two game this weekend, with Clydesdale 5th XI taking on unbeaten Western 5th XI. The Western team look very hard to beat with only two goals conceded in five games. But Clydesdale will be right up for it after scoring eight last weekend. Dumfries 2nd XI travel up to Balgray to take on Hillhead 7th XI in what should be good game full of young promising talent.
