It was a thrilling weekend of hockey, with no fewer than eighty-four goals going in!

 

 

Division one saw a real topsy turvy match end in a 5-5 draw between Uddingston 3rd XI and GHK. Uddingston lead 3-1 at half time but were pegged back by GHK with both sides taking the lead in the second half. A draw seemed a fair result. However, it does mean Uddingston drop into the relegation zone. That’s after Helensburgh had a big win against bottom side Dumfries. The two sides were struggling for form, but it was Helensburgh who came out on top racing to a 3-0 lead in the first half. Jamie Caulfield scoring the important opener. The game finished 5-2. The other match to take place was a close fought affair between Rottenrow and Giffnock. Goals from Josh Arthy and William Boyle cancelled out Giffnocks Craig Combes goal. This result leaves Rottenrow top of the tree, but Western 3rd XI have several games in hand.

 

Glasgow University 3rd XI recorded their biggest win of the season with a 9-2 defeat over Uddingston 4th XI. The result pushes them up the table with promotion still on the cards, they still have a lot of work to do. Second placed Western 4th XI kept there push for promotion alive against challengers Clydesdale 4th XI. The Auchenhowie side beat Clydesdale 5-2. The other match saw Rottenrow 2nd XI defeat Hillhead 5th XI 3-2.

 

A big game for division three leaders Hillhead 6th XI saw them defeat the students at Strathclyde University 2nd XI. It was a demolishing 7-1 victory for Hillhead, with doubles from Jack Robinson and Toby Stevens helping them on their way. Second placed Greenock 2nd XI kept their promotion hopes alive too with a good 3-0 victory over Kelburne 4th XI. Harry Weld-Forresters goal helped them on their way and moves him to top of the division scoring charts. The other game saw Anchor defeat Uddingston 5th XI as they look to get their season back on track.

 

Division four saw an excellent result for the lowest ranked side, Helensburgh 3rd XI. They defeated Dumfries 2nd XI 7-4 in what proved to be the game of the weekend. Clydesdale 5th XI was held to a 2-2 draw against Hillhead 7th XI. Clydesdale led 2-1 at half time through Finlay Dunlop and James Sheridan. But experienced striker Gordon MacIntyre-Kemp got the equalising goal in the second half to give each side a point. This draw allowed Western 5th XI to move top after their impressive 5-0 over Giffnock 2nd XI.
